Paul Newman and Giuliano Mazzuoli for the foundation
“Hole in the Wall”
When I received the first prototype of “Contagiri”
I felt a strong desire to show it (and give it to him
once it was finished) to someone that I have always admired
and that like me, really loves auto racing.
Thanks to my tenacity and some luck I was able to get
him to invite me to his house in America for a cup of
coffee. I think he liked me right away and I was moved
when he showed me his admiration for the watch I had brought
him. We talked for a long time about his films and our
mutual passions, but I saw his famous eyes light up when
he told me about his foundation, “Hole
in the Wall”. |
 |
| My eyes lit up with emotion too when he
asked me if he could put the watch up for auction to raise
money for his foundation. I never thought my first meeting
with Paul Newman would turn out the way it did and that
my watch could contribute to his cause to help sick children
throughout the world. I decided to do more and I put not
one but 25 “Contagiri” watches at his disposal.
The number is symbolic because it represents the year
of his birth. |
